This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low­dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure or radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator. LCA: Interpretation As can be seen, the production stage (A1­A3) has on average the highest impact across all impact categories with an average share of … %. These impacts can mostly be attributed to the production of aluminium and glass. This is due to their high material mass share. The second highest impact share is the actual use phase (B6) with an average share of … % across all impact categories. The latter, however, can be significantly reduced by using green electricity to operate the doors. In the graph above, the 100 % line represents the baseline value of the weighted average. Depending on the door variant and performance category considered, the results can differ from this baseline within a range of ­11 to +55 %. The average variation across all performance categories is ­2 to +11 %. Not included in this graph is the impact category ADPE, which has a much higher range of ­1426 to +4320 % showing that this specific impact category reacts more sensitively to changes in the material composition. 7.
